TMART

TMART is an organization of ski racers, their parents, and coaches. TMART offers a variety of programs to satisfy the diverse levels of racing interest, whether that interest is to improve ability or to compete in United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) races. USSA is the national governing body for skiing in the USA.

In addition to improving their skiing ability, racers also:

• take on responsibility for their equipment,
• develop their physical condition,
• increase their self confidence and,
• most importantly HAVE FUN.

T-MART coaches are employed by Tussey Mountain Ski Area and provide planned and directed training focused on improving the primary skills of skiing (balance, edging, rotary, and pressure). Technique (how one skis) are taught through the use of practice race courses, gate drills, non-gate drills, directed free skiing, and video analysis. Coaches assist each racer in reaching their fullest potential without detracting from the enjoyment of the sport or the safety of the racer.

This program is designed for skiers ages 10-19 that can ski all the slopes at Tussey Mountain in a parallel stance using ski poles correctly. Its purpose is to perfect skiing ability and racing skills. Participants will compete in USSA races at various ski resorts in our region. The expanded race schedule includes races beyond our region and may include races in New York or other northeast states. Memberships in state and national governing bodies (PARA and USSA) are required.
